The Chicago Bears will be the first team on Mike McCarthy’s coaching free agency tour, and the New Orleans Saints are anticipated to be the next.
McCarthy is anticipated to meet with the Saints early next week to discuss their open head coaching post, according to an NFL Media report. On Wednesday, the former head coach of the Packers and Cowboys will discuss their position with the Bears.
This week, after he and the Cowboys failed to agree on a contract extension, McCarthy became available to teams seeking a new head coach.
According to reports, the 61-year-old McCarthy changed his legal representation and hired NFL agent Don Yee, who also happens to represent former Saints coach Sean Payton and has extensive experience negotiating withwith the Saints.
McCarthy has been an NFL head coach for eighteen years, and his career record is 174-112-2 (.608). He guided his teams to 12 postseason appearances with the Packers and the Cowboys, including a run of eight straight with Green Bay.
