Even though Georgia football defeated Georgia Tech to end the regular season with a 10-2 record—objectively a strong record—UGA supporters haven’t been thrilled with what they’ve seen on the pitch thus far.
This season, there have been numerous problems on both sides of the ball, but the offence has been the most erratic. Additionally, it is impossible to discuss the offense’s problems without mentioning the wide receiver woes.
This season, has Carson Beck been flawless? No, he hasn’t. However, the frequency with which his wide receivers lose the ball has not helped him. Indeed, among the teams in the entire nation with the greatest drops this season is Georgia.eason.
One wouldn’t anticipate a receiver to be nearing one of the greatest statistical seasons in Georgia football history, given that this has been a significant issue for the team this season. However, Arian Smith is doing just that.
WR Arian Smith is getting closer to having one of Georgia’s top 10 seasons ever.
Smith has caught 42 passes for 709 yards and four touchdowns so far this season. Smith had a really strong season, but the numerous drops from both him and the other wide receivers have obscured much of it.
Smith, though, is only 157 yards away from ranking among Georgia football’s all-time top 10 receivers in a single season.
Additionally, with at leastWith two games left in the season (if Georgia qualifies for the College Football Playoff), Smith seems to have a good chance of hitting this milestone. This would feel like a lock for Smith if Georgia wins their first CFP game, but it will be difficult to do so in just two games.
It would help Georgia’s wide receivers feel a bit better after a poor season, so perhaps Smith can make it.
