Pigeon Forge, TN – Tragedy struck the annual Pigeon Forge Rod Run yesterday evening, as a shooting incident left one person dead and multiple others injured.
According to authorities, the shooting occurred at approximately 10:45 PM outside a local restaurant on the Parkway, where a large crowd had gathered for the event.
“We are deeply saddened by this senseless act of violence,” said Pigeon Forge Police Chief, Richard Evans. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families.”
INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY
The Pigeon Forge Police Department, assisted by the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, is conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.
Preliminary findings indicate that the shooting stemmed from a dispute between two groups of individuals. Multiple suspects have been taken into custody, and charges are pending.
“We will not tolerate violence in our community,” said Sevier County Sheriff, Ron Seals. “We will work tirelessly to ensure justice is served.”
VICTIMS IDENTIFIED
The deceased victim has been identified as 32-year-old James Johnson of Knoxville, Tennessee. Three others, including two men and one woman, were transported to nearby hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
