Indiana Fever are looking forward to a bright future that should include many more postseason berths and perhaps even the league championship one day, now that Caitlin Clark’s debut WNBA season is over. In her first professional season, Clark made history and set a number of milestones that could stand alone for a long time.
Last week, she was formally announced as the WNBA Rookie of the Year. Although the Fever rookie is expected to be a mainstay of the team for many years to come, her supporting cast may shift as early as this free agency.
During a press conference on Tuesday, Fever president Kelly Krauskopf discussed the team’s standing in the forthcoming free agency window and provideda simple explanation of how players from all over the W might be enticed by Clark’s celebrity.
“I would think that if you are a smart basketball player and you watch the way [Clark] plays, you would want to play with her,” Krauskopf stated. Because she passes to space and looks for holes and ways to free up other players, she brings you the ball in places you didn’t even know you were available, much like Tyrese Haliburton.
Because of the way she plays the game, I consider how well she and Kelsey collaborate as well as the effectiveness of the offense.
