Michael Jordan is suing the major American motor racing organization, NASCAR, over a contentious revenue-sharing arrangement. In addition to being the owner of 23XI Racing, a NASCAR team, Jordan is regarded by many as the greatest basketball player of all time. He won six NBA titles with the Chicago Bulls.

The auto racing firm and its chairman Jim France are the targets of an antitrust case brought in the USA by Front Row Motorsports, another NASCAR team, and Hall of Fame basketball player Michael Jordan’s 23XI Racing. The NASCAR teams contend that by unjustly tying them to the series, its tracks, and its suppliers, the new charter system in the sport restricts competition.

It’s time for their “targets to stand up and refuse to be victims,” they declared in their statement.

The teams claimed in the lawsuit—a copy of which The Associated Press was able to obtain—that “the France family and NASCAR are monopolistic bullies.” And until their targets rise up and decide not to be victims, bullies will keep enforcing their desire to harm others. That time has finally come.

When NASCAR made its last offer in early September, it essentially presented a revenue sharing arrangement. Thirteen organizations signed, the majority claiming they were coerced or intimidated into doing so.

However, neither the smaller Front Row team nor the outfit co-owned by Jordan and seasoned driver Denny Hamlin, 23XI Racing, agreed to sign. They
